Buddhist Monks Closing Ceremony and Dispersal

Treat Yourself to a Symbolic, Sacred Celebration!
Closing Ceremony
This Sunday, you’re invited to attend the beautiful and spiritual Closing and Dispersal Ceremonies. The Closing will take place in our sanctuary at 1 p.m. The monks will say blessings and dismantle our mandala, the Buddha of Compassion. They will sweep up the colored sands to symbolize the impermanence of all that exists. You will receive a small sample of the sacred sand as a blessing for personal health and healing.
Dispersal Ceremony
Immediately after the Closing (about 2 p.m.), you are invited to go to Mountain Park for the Dispersal Ceremony. The monks will pour the remaining sand into the lake, which is a flowing body of water. According to Buddhist teachings, this sand from our mandala will flow through the earth’s bodies of water, ascend into the atmosphere and descend back upon the earth for global healing.
