Ministries & Outreach
At Unity North sharing our love and spirit beyond our walls is so very important so we have an outreach team that is devoted to serving the greater community. Here are some of the ways you can join us in our mission of service.
“The Extension”
Every third Thursday evening we prepare and serve dinner for the women’s program. Team lead: Kurt Heim.
“Common Grounds”
Every third Wednesday we prepare lunch and a program for the community of men and women dealing with AIDS. Team leads: Nina Vance and Marguerite Rooney.
Shelter Outreach
Cobb County – In June we will be collecting bedding, pillows, bath towels, wachcloths, hair brushes, body lotion, bath robes and combs. Team lead: Dana Smith
Cherokee County – We have adopted two rooms that we are responsible for keeping fresh, painted and supplied. We also help move furniture as needed. Team lead: Angela Speeth
UNA Hospice Team
We are establishing an entire ministry of trained hospice workers devoted to helping those who are in the process of leaving the physical realm for a new spiritual adventure. Team lead: Lin Tatum
Habitat for Humanity
For Summer and Fall of 2012 Unity North is involved in an Interfaith Habitat for Humanity build. We are excited to join the Interfaith community for a common goal of helping out a family in need. Team Lead: David Cameron
MUST Ministries
Every Sunday we have a barrel to collect food for those in our community who are in need. Please bring non-perishable food items and help share your abundance. Check the printed bulletin on Sundays to see which specific food items are being collected for the month.
Blood Drive
Three times a year we do a blood drive for the Red Cross. Our next blood drive is scheduled for October 28.
If you would like to help out in any of these areas of service please contact Rev. Richard and we’ll get you plugged in.

Grief Support & Ministries
Grieving the death of a loved one? Join Unity North’s grief support group on the 1st Thursday of every month.
This group welcomes all people who have had a family member, friend, or other loved one pass away. Group sessions provide a caring, compassionate setting to cope with the pain and suffering of loss and provides a network of support for those in need. Our grief support group is a comprehensive group of individuals who, through spiritual and psychological thinking, are trying to find a new approach to the activity of life!
The group will meet from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm in the Gathering Room of the Admin Building. For more information, please e-mail Kathy Kelcourse or call her at 770-579-3512.
Calling all gardeners ~ Give Peas a Chance!
We are entering a new age of unprecedented changes. We are living an unsustainable lifestyle—our food is transported an average of 1,500 miles before it reaches your grocery store.
The Unity North organic garden will give you an opportunity to enjoy and benefit from the truly fresh organic harvest that will result. This garden will also help to strengthen old friendships and develop new ones. What a way to connect with Mother Earth and our church community!
If you are interested in joining the organic garden community, please call Debbie Raduka at 678-575-7803 or e-mail her at draduka1@bellsouth.net.

Animal Healing & Ministries
The purpose of the Animal Ministry is to meet the spiritual and emotional needs of animal lovers in our church setting and to provide service to God’s gift to humans.
While there will be times when participants may choose to partake of classes to the Animal Ministry such as training, healing, etc., the initial focus is to support animals through prayer, community and service projects.
Every third Thursday the animal ministry will be having a pet loss support group for those whose pets have transitioned. We will meet at 7:00 pm in the admin building, first floor—turn right and go down the hall. We would like to give support to all, by sharing thoughts, stories, pictures and memories.
Other intentions are:
- to assist shelters or others in need of pet food, etc.
- to reestablish the ‘ambassadog’ position
- to support owners as their beloved pets transition
- to provide effective, loving, and joyous support for all services to animals and their people companions
- to enjoy our time together by having fun, fun, fun . . .just like the animals teach us to do so well.
If you are interested in joining us, please click here to print out a form or send an e-mail with the requested information to sueeernst@yahoo.com.

Alex the Ambassadog
We are collecting pictures of members’ pets (our Unipets), for the bulletin board. Please email them to sueernst@yahoo.com and don’t forget to include the pet’s name. Thank you!
“The loving, innocent world of animals serves as a good example for me. The more you stop to observe animals and learn from them, the healthier and more peaceful your life will be.” — Dr. Wayne Dyer
